I’m Home!
It’s been a minute— and for the best reason! I’m happy to announce your girl has officially recovered from a 6-month art slump. I’ve have been painting non-stop for the past two weeks, and there’s no stopping now.
I’m absolutely over the moon! For a while, my focus was on “toping” my past work, and not the process. I took some time for myself, set focus, and put paint to the page, trusting the process, not results.
My first piece after the slump is called “Love Livy” and it’s something I painted for my younger self. This is incredibly different stylistically, and I was nervous because, no this is not a realistic goldfish painting. This was a great way to explore an illustrative style, and in a lot of ways, I really felt like I was connecting with myself and little Liv while working on this piece. I feel like I’m home again, which is just so empowering.
A lot of my work focus on color. I love playing with brights and focusing on soft themes. A goal I have for this year is to start making art that is not just technically strong but evokes emotion.
